Please call Jason directly at 616-890-6828 or email him at to schedule.

Jason Anderson received his Master’s Degree in Social Work from Grand Valley State University in 2011.  While at GVSU, Jason was twice recognized for scholarship and professional excellence by receiving the Outstanding MSW Student Award, as presented by colleagues and faculty.  Jason also received his Bachelor’s Degree from Wheaton College with a focus on Sociology of the Family.  With 5 years experience in clinical counseling, Jason combines research-based therapy with an ability to build relationships with clients that make working together an enjoyable and productive experience.

Jason’s career has included residential treatment for pre-adolescent boys, extensive work with teens and college students, international non-profit administration, counseling with adults, and teaching clinical social work at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at GVSU.  Jason’s clinical focus has been in treating mood disorders of depression and anxiety, relationship work, anger management, life phase transitions, grief work, and helping clients adjust to significant life stressors and changes.

Jason works from a systems perspective that assesses and treats symptoms while taking into account physical, social, emotional and cognitive factors.  Understanding how all of these pieces of life are working together can create a dynamic platform for change.  Jason has seen clients benefit from cognitive behavioral therapy (addressing thinking errors), narrative therapy (finding new meaning or creating a new outlook on life), and person-centered therapy (focusing on clients internal strengths though purposeful dialogue and reflective questions).

When not at work, Jason pursues fulfillment and meaning in his own life by creating adventures for himself, his family, and friends.  His interests include backpacking, cooking, meeting new people, and traveling to new places.  Jason also spends a good portion of his life supporting and encouraging his 3 children, cheering them on in life.

Jason has appointments available on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, with a few evening appointments from 5-7 pm.  He participates with Blue Cross/Blue Shield Traditional and PPO plans and Medicare.  Other plans are considered out of network.  We are able to bill as a courtesy but please check with your carrier to verify your insurance coverage.
